About Us

Cheshunt Dramatic Society or CDS, is an amateur dramatic society that was founded in 1945 by Reg Moxom, with the first performance taking place in April 1946.

We rehearse on Mondays and Fridays (7.30-10pm) at Goffs Oak Methodist Church (April-September) and at the Rosedale Bowls Club (September-April). Our shows usually take place at Goffs Oak Village Hall. We generally perform four productions a year, in the months of January, April, July and October. We perform a variety of shows including full-length plays, one-act plays, pantomimes, sketches, and some musical-based performances. Visit our Productions page to find out more about our forthcoming and past productions.

We are a very welcoming society and always try to get people involved as soon as possible. Currently, we have about 50 members. However, there is more to CDS than acting on stage, if you are a budding photographer, make-up artist, painter or carpenter then you are needed! Go to our Get Involved page to find out how you could be an asset to CDS. Also, the group has a very active social life and attend many events together, see our News & Events section to find out more.

Committee

The committee is made up of CDS members who are there to make sure that everything runs smoothly in the society. They organise advertising, finances, social events and generally support the society and its members, so that each show is a good experience for all.

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held, usually in May/June, for all CDS members to attend. It is an opportunity to summarise the years events and for everyone to have their say, as well as elect the Committee for the year ahead. According to our Constitution only paid up members of the group are allowed to vote.
